The long and drawn out checkout at Best Buy

How many best buy employees does it take to checkout?

Or perhaps the more important question, how long does it take to check out? From the above picture, the formula is approximately 10 minutes multiplied by the number of employees shown.

That picture was actually taken last year. I used my tax return money to splurge on some electronics. I did the same this year, and although I didn’t spend nearly as much money this time around, I had an almost equally chaotic checkout. I didn’t grab a photo this time though, all the different helpers weren’t ever in the same place at once. Drat.

I would be put off by the whole thing and go shop somewhere else if I didn’t have some contribution to the problem. I drive a hard bargain, especially when it comes to expensive items, to make sure that I get my money’s worth. The salesmen are so eager to sell me something that they’ll ask each and every one of my questions. Yes, I’m one of those annoying customers. I dig in and basically try to find out which models are no longer being ordered, or which display items are the last of the bunch, and if can I get it for a lot cheaper.

So, in exchange for a whole lot of questions, and a bunch of employees running about like chickens with their heads cut off trying to get all the discounts applied to the order (which basically amounts to an hour or two of time), I can get at least $100 knocked off the price tag. It’s worth it to me, anyway.
